In the production of various industrial products, the application purpose of the mold is to ensure the quality of the product, improve its productivity and reduce costs. Therefore, only the correct design of the mold and the selection of a reasonable mold structure also require high-quality mold manufacturing technology as a guarantee. Therefore, when manufacturing a mold, no matter which method is used, several elements should be met:

1. High manufacturing precision In order to produce qualified products and give full play to the skills of the mold, the design and manufacture of the mold must have high precision. The accuracy of the mold is mainly determined by the product accuracy requirements and the mold structure. In order to ensure the accuracy and quality of the material, the accuracy of the working part of the mold is usually 2 to 4 levels higher than the accuracy of the product. The mold structure has higher requirements for the cooperation between the upper and lower molds, and the parts that make up the mold must have sufficient manufacturing accuracy, otherwise the mold will not be able to produce qualified products, and even cause the mold to fail to work normally.

2. Long service life Molds are relatively expensive process equipment. At present, mold manufacturing costs account for about 10% to 30% of product costs, and their service life will directly affect production costs. Therefore, in addition to special cases such as small batch production and new product trial production, molds are generally required to have a long service life. In the case of mass production, the service life of the mold is more important.

3. Short manufacturing cycle The length of the mold manufacturing cycle is mainly determined by the level of manufacturing technology and production management. In order to meet the needs of production and improve the competitiveness of products, it is necessary to shorten the mold manufacturing cycle as much as possible under the premise of ensuring quality.

4. Low mold cost. Mold cost is related to the complexity of mold structure, mold material, manufacturing accuracy requirements, and processing methods. Mold technicians must reasonably design and formulate its processing technology according to product requirements, and strive to reduce mold manufacturing costs.

It must be affirmed that the above four indicators are interrelated and affect each other. If the unilateral pursuit of mold accuracy and service life will inevitably lead to an increase in manufacturing costs, it is not advisable to reduce costs and shorten the manufacturing cycle while ignoring mold accuracy and service life. Therefore, when designing and manufacturing molds, comprehensive consideration should be made according to the actual situation, that is, the mold structure and manufacturing method that are compatible with the production volume of the product should be selected under the premise of ensuring the quality of the product to minimize the cost of the mold.
